Parvus Lenormand

A fan-project to create a Lenormand deck inspired by the world of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40k.

The art

All the art for the project was created using vine charcoal on A3 paper, referencing miniatures from the Games Workshop Warhammer 40k range.

The card deck

Lenormand is a cartomancy system from the 19th century, named after French cartomancer Marie Anne Lenormand and produced by re-packaging an existing German deck called Das Spiel der Hoffnung (“The Game of Hope”).

A standard Lenormand deck contains 36 cards. Each card has: a number, a title, an illustration (of that title), and an associated playing-card (from the more well-known 52 card deck).

I used traditional titles for the cards and included the playing-card associations as little codes in the top-right.

The cards were printed at poker size on S30 Standard Smooth cardstock using Make Playing Cards.
